The global sports market is estimated at $417Bn in 2025. Sports remains a strong foundation in bolstering an exchange of cultures. As such, the sporting eco-system needs an enabling thriving environment, not only in the country but also in the region.
In Hoima city, the Hoima City Stadium which will host the African Cup of Nations in 2027, stands as a beacon of hope to the African sporting infrastructure.
The state -of -the- art 20,000-seater multi-purpose stadium, a 2,000 Indoor Mini Arena, An Olympic size Swimming pool and training pitch, will serve as a renewal of the African dream.
PRAND has played a pivotal role in seeing this vision come alive and, it is not stopping at anything.
70 % of employment opportunities are offered to local communities, which has boosted incomes of hundreds of youths and households, and the same time transferring valuable construction skills.
Regular community engagement has enabled the local communities to share in this exciting journey.
Through our employee and supplier development programs, we have identified gaps in skills and capacity of locals and engaged them through:
- Skills training sessions especially in construction skills and machine operation. In co-operation with local authorities, we managed to skill and employ over one hundred and fifty (150) drivers, machine operators, masons and labourers from the Hoima area.
- Through supplier engagements and trainings, we equipped suppliers with capacity building initiatives to enable them offer commendable services. These included food suppliers, sand and gravel suppliers, material yard vendors, spare parts and lubricants suppliers etc.
- Together with local authorities, PRAND was able to identify and maintain several community roads within the area.
As the project draws to an end in 3 months’ time, the PRAND team looks back with pride at what has been achieved on the project and the impact created for the community. Together with the main contractor, SUMMA, we say “BRING ON 2027 AFCON”.
